I want to take some time to talk about Gaby. I (Tessa) had been spending some time with Gaby during our homework hour at Kids Create to help her with a writing assignment. She had to write a story and I was impressed. Gaby has a very unique way in sharing perspective through writing. I wanted to ask her to share a story with us in this month’s newsletter and was blessed by what she shared. My main question was, “What story can you share that ties in with the theme of being thankful?” This is what she wrote:
One day when I arrived at Kids Create I was sad, because the day before my mom told me that maybe her and my dad were going to get a divorce. I was feeling something you can’t describe with words, sad perhaps, or upset. The minute I stepped in [to Kids Create], Hannah and Ally asked me what happened. You can say they were my friends and counselors that I could tell everything to, no matter what it was. They were right next to me and supported me in every second, every moment I needed them. What mostly touched my heart was that I didn’t even have to ask for someone to talk to, because they were there the second they realized something was wrong. You could say Ciudad Nueva is my family because they were there beside me. They could be that sister you need or your strength when you feel weak — your happiness when you feel sad. What I mean, is that they are your family and always will be.
Thank you, all, for taking the time to invest in our community. We are thankful for your presence in our lives and through you all we are able to shed the light of Christ in moments like these.
