Mitzy is one of Ciudad Nueva’s high school students. She took some time to describe one of the mentors that impacted her life and her faith. Here’s her story:
Ciudad Nueva, the place where I found myself and figured out who my friends were. The first day I attended Launch Pad (one of Ciudad Nueva’s Programs) I have to admit, I was frightened by the idea that I would be surrounded by adults I didn’t know. Even though I didn’t know any adults there it was the best thing of my life. I met many people but, in particular, I met this one person. A follower of God, my leader, my mentor, my friend!
Her name is Carlie Pine. She is a blonde woman, not too tall, beautiful and strong. I’m so glad I entered Ciudad Nueva because meeting her changed my life. She took away the pain in my heart and showed me who God is. We wouldn’t see each other often, only twice a week in the program but, at times she would take me out to eat and have fun. Carlie would talk to me, and advise me about many things and help me through my problems. It was a matter of months for me to trust her fully with my own life. Carlie is simply the best. She has become a true friend to me over the years. I’m so glad I entered Ciudad Nueva because it was the best experience to make a true friend like Carlie.
I just want to thank God because in Ciudad Nueva I met many people that now I love. Carlie Pine, Lindsey Baker, Lindsay Goodrich, Joe Gavaldon and many more are all people that I’ve grown to care about.
Ciudad Nueva wasn’t only about meeting new people but also meeting God. I’m so glad that now I’m a follower of God. Ciudad Nueva has seen me grow. I entered when I was in elementary and now I’m in high school. Ciudad Nueva has built my soul by introducing me to our savior Jesus Christ.
I thank God for every opportunity I have had in Ciudad Nueva. God bless Ciudad Nueva! Because Ciudad Nueva is the best way to know people and meet God. Ciudad Nueva has become a huge part of my life and I have the pleasure to say that… I LOVE CIUDAD NUEVA!
