We are so grateful for each and every volunteer who has come through our doors over the years. Each person brings their own unique gifts and experiences to share with our wonderful downtown neighborhood. They might not live here with us, but they become part of our community as we bond together in meeting needs and mentoring young people.
Even the best volunteers have to move on from time to time, so we are always looking for new volunteers in El Paso who would like to have an impact on their community and get to know some really great people. Most of our volunteers say they equally enjoy working with our neighborhood residents and with their fellow volunteers. It truly is a unique community experience.
Consider sharing your time with us
Although it’s a busy time of year, we know people are often looking for ways to give back or considering where they might volunteer their time in the New Year. Here are some ways that you can get involved at Ciudad Nueva:
- Drive a van — We need van drivers to help transport kids to our elementary and middle school programs in the afternoons and to help transport donated food for the community food co-op.
- Mentor a student — Mentors make a difference in students’ lives! We need more mentors for our Launch Pad (elementary school) program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. You can read a little bit about the program here.
- Share your knowledge or skills — Our middle school students participate in a creative class every Tuesday afternoon. The topics rotate about every eight weeks and include almost anything: cooking, computers, rock climbing, exercise, art classes, jewelry making — anything that our wonderful volunteers want to share!
- Help a high schooler think about their future — In the Catalyst Program, high school students are exposed to different career paths and job possibilities. We are looking for anyone willing to share about their career and their education path with our students.

We know this time of year many people are looking to make a year-end gift or donation. Please consider supporting our work at Ciudad Nueva. Everything that you give goes toward empowering and equipping leaders, supporting families, and strengthening the community.
