Mustard Seed Café Serves Up Love and Opportunity
...And a delicious meal! From a tiny seed a plant can grow to nourish and sustain many people. A tiny seed of an idea was born in the hearts of our friends Christi Brown, Patsy Burdick and Shelley Speicher to open up the Mustard Seed Café. For about a year before the café actually opened they prepared the meals for Ciudad Nueva youth programs and community dinners as well as volunteered in our after-school programs, building relationships with kids and families in our neighborhood. Working in communities over many years, we have addressed many different kinds of need — some big and complex and some very small but still important. Sometimes we can work together with community members to discover simple solutions with resources from inside the community. Border Fellows: Investing in Their Futures and Their Communities
In the world today there are boundless factors pulling youth to and fro. With so many opportunities to chase after it can be confusing and overwhelming to find a life path after college. The Border Fellows program provides direction and learning opportunities for young adults looking to take advantage of this unique time of life.
